Best Shot Film Festival

The Best Shot Film Festival is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural short film competition in 2025, set to culminate in a highly anticipated live screening event on November 29, 2025, at the iconic Brunswick Picture House in Brunswick Heads.

The Best Shot Film Festival is a unique platform that celebrates the best films that have not found success at other festivals. With as few restrictions as possible, the festival welcomes short films of all genres, from any filmmaker, with no theme rules or specific categories. The focus is on raw talent and the fundamental craft of filmmaking — artistry, execution, and impact. “We’re giving filmmakers a chance to showcase their work in a way that’s focused on quality and creativity, rather than the typical festival constraints,” said the festival organisers. “These will be the best short films you’ve never seen.”

Key Festival Details:
— Submission Deadline: November 17, 2025
— Submission Criteria: Short films 10 minutes or under
— Event Date: November 29, 2025 @7pm at Brunswick Picture House, Brunswick Heads NSW.

The festival encourages filmmakers from all backgrounds to submit their films, with the opportunity to be selected for a live screening in front of an audience that appreciates the art of cinematic storytelling. In addition to the screenings, to support their growth and development, finalists will receive valuable industry feedback from an esteemed judging panel, including:

— Award-winning director and screenwriter Ben C Lucas (Disney+/Netflix/AMC)
— VFX Studio Head Hamilton Lewis (DreamWorks/Marvel Studios/Skydance)
— Editor and Producer Karen Miley (The Voice/MasterChef/Survivor).

The top three films, as selected by the judging panel, will also share in $3,000 in prize money, including the “People’s Choice” award, selected by live audience vote. The live screening event will be hosted by Charlotte Grimmer, an Australian NIDA graduate, comedian, and beloved TikTok personality known for her work at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and her channel @charlotteisgrim.
