“Arrebato”: (Spanish) a sudden and intensive burst of emotion, a feeling of fury or ecstasy.
Flamenco is coming to Bruns! Arrebato Ensemble is a diverse, award-winning group of talented musicians who have worked together to develop original music with contemporary flamenco as the compositional and rhythmic driving force. This collaboration has created a passionately moving style of music with an intensely international flavour and appeals to many audiences from the flamenco aficionado to jazz and world music fans.
Their two albums and numerous performances have received significant critical acclaim across the board. Prominent music critic John Shand’s description of the group in the Sydney Morning Herald is that their music “moves from pure flamenco in favour of a more contemporary style, the spirit, a dramatic, sexually charged and haughty sadness, remains intact.” The Ensemble was voted Best World Music Artist at the 2008 MusicOz Awards.
The core members of Arrebato Ensemble are coming to Bruns as the ARREBATO TRIO, led by acclaimed flamenco guitarist Greg Alfonzetti. Joining Greg will be Damian de Boos-Smith (cello, guitar & palmas) and Byron Mark (cajon and palmas).
