Frank Bennett and his Band

“Fully Franked — Future$ ain’t what they u$ed to be!”

Brunswick Picture House — Jazz Film Festival

With the success of two award-winning albums, ‘Five o’Clock Shadow’ and ‘Cash Landing’, 4-time ARIA nominee Frank Bennett’s lush orchestral renditions of contemporary pop classics, Frank’s talent, personality and stage presence have led him to become one of the most popular and sought after entertainers in Australia.

His vocal style is influenced by the legendary Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, and the music of the 1940s and 1950s. Frank has also reinvented his audience fan base with his amazingly cool big-band cover versions of rock and pop singles, most notably “Creep” (originally by Radiohead), “Better Man” (Pearl Jam), and “Under the Bridge” (Red Hot Chili Peppers). His version of “Creep” was included in the Triple J Hottest 100’s 1996 year-end countdown.

In 1997 and 1998, Frank opened for the superb Tom Jones and the great Burt Bacharach on his Australian tour. In 2006, Frank was the star of the Darling Harbour Jazz Festival with over 200,000 attendees. In 2007, Frank toured playing saxophone with Oz music legends Daddy Cool on their triumphant reunion tour with the Beach Boys.

Frank also hosted his own cable TV show ‘VINYL REVIVAL’ which ran for 4 years on the Fox networks TV1. He has appeared on every major Australian television variety show, including Hey Hey It’s Saturday, In Melbourne Tonight, Bert Newton’s Good Morning Australia, Australian Idol and Mornings with Kerri-Anne.

What that all gets down to is the simple fact that Frank Bennett has one incredible voice! Don’t miss the charismatic Mr Bennett and his full band including Jack Thorncraft (bass), Sharny Russell (piano), Greg Carter (trumpet), Neil Wickman (sax), Spike Porter (guitar) and Dave Sanders (drums).
