Facing Up
— How do we live in the midst of the Climate and Ecological Crises?
Facing Up is a series of trauma-informed conversations that focuses on the social, economic, cultural, political, emotional and spiritual consequences of the ecological crisis.
Plan C (previously known as Resilient Byron) in association with Brunswick Picture House presents a series of conversations led by world-leading experts on the social and emotional impacts of living in this period of change. Tailored to our region and our specific challenges this series aims to inform and involve our community on a deeper level.
Its starting point is an acceptance of the prevailing scientific evidence on the climate predicament and destruction of biodiversity. As we’re all aware, this predicament points to an extremely precarious future for all planetary species. Inevitably, we will have to face up to many pressing questions:
Join us and learn how we can grow our acceptance and strength to support each other in this period of significant change. And ultimately Face Up to the challenges ahead.
The Facing Up sessions will be held on the last Wednesday of the month, with a different guest speaker each month.
Panel for WEDNESDAY 27 SEPTEMBER:
This month, we are screening “Living in the Time of Dying” by local filmmaker, Michael Shaw. “Living in the Time of Dying” is an unflinching look at what it means to be living in the midst of climate catastrophe and finding purpose and meaning within it.
The people interviewed in the documentary are all highly regarded and well-known spokespeople on the issue and argue it’s too late to stop catastrophic climate change but in no way too late to regain a renewed lifegiving relationship with our world.
Join us to discuss how we can grow our acceptance and strength to support each other in this period of significant change. And ultimately Face Up to the challenges ahead.
