After a string of sold out dates in 2025, THE GRUNGE SHOW’s acclaimed MTV UNPLUGGED celebration returns for the new year with new dates and new songs!

Remember when grunge went acoustic?

As well as being a critical and commercial success, the MTV Unplugged series was a cultural touchstone and institution that climatically intersected the early 90s grunge hype. This culminated in some of the most powerful, memorable and haunting performances ever captured on camera, most notably by Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots.

With Alice In Chains’ and Nirvana’s grammy-award winning MTV Unplugged In New York recently celebrating its 30th anniversary, THE GRUNGE SHOW have curated an incredible sit-down experience for the seminal unplugged broadcasts. There will be acoustic guitars, cardigans, candles, flowers, mood lighting, surprises and most importantly, the legendary tunes. The two sprawling one-hour sets will include an entrée of fan favourites such as Plush, Black, Black Hole Sun, Interstate Love Song and Jeremy, followed by a main course of cuts by Nirvana and Alice In Chains; The Man Who Sold The World, Come As You Are, Nutshell, Down In A Hole and more.

Celebrate the nostalgic magic of this unforgettable era with Australia’s quintessential grunge show. Through audio visual storytelling, interviews, behind the scenes footage and TV clips from the era, you will leave the show with an appreciation of the rich history and immortalized songs. With an unparalleled attention to respecting the details of the musical storytelling and featuring some of Sydney’s best working musicians such as Benji Axwell (Vocals), Paul Bardetta (Bass), Tony Ward (Drums), Jacob Ingram (Guitar/Vocals) and Ryan Sorensen (Guitar/Vocals), this is a show you will not want to miss!
